What I’m loving lately…

Welcome to a new series where I provide a plethora of all the things I’m loving lately. There’s no rhyme or reason, so let’s call it a stream of consciousness. I will share a link at the end of the post for anything you might be interested in taking a closer look at! Let’s get started!

WHAT I’M EATING:

I am loving fresh garden produce. We don’t have a garden, but our dear friends do and they are so generous to share. This “5 Ingredient Pasta Salad” from Kelsey Nixon on Instagram was such a hit with our whole family over the 4th of July! It is definitely a go-to side dish. I omitted the dressing and tossed it with a little pesto. So yummy and be sure to follow Kelsey Nixon!

WHAT I’M READING:

  • Holy moly! I just finished Beth Moore’s Memoir called, ALL MY KNOTTED UP LIFE and I’ll tell you what… For starters, I just want to give little Bethie a hug. Have you read it yet? I would describe it as hard and vulnerable. Beth poetically takes the reader on the journey of her life. She goes to all the places and it’s (at times) gut-wrenching. I have participated in several studies written by Beth Moore and have loved following her for many years. She felt the Lord placed a call on her life at a young age and she has never wavered in her commitment to serving Jesus. What a read. I’m so glad I borrowed this from our local library. (I always borrow when I can!) If I don’t borrow, I purchase and put in my little free library or pass on to a friend!

ALL MY KNOTTED-UP LIFE

A hard, but vulnerable read by Beth Moore.

  • On a lighter note, I also read FAMOUS FOR A LIVING by Melissa Ferguson. Melissa is my g0-t0 author for fiction Rom-Com because her writing is one hundred percent clean. (I’m not into steamy love scenes or filthy language.) I reached out to Melissa on instagram last year asking her about her “rating” and she very kindly responded, letting me know her writing is clean. I reach for her books when I want a very light, fun read. I polished this off poolside in just a few sessions. It’s so cute, but really got me thinking about screen time and phone use. In fact, at the end of her books she always includes bookclub questions. Since the main character of this story was an Instagram Influencer who struggled in the area of phone use, she included some questions to determine ones overuse in this area. Well. I flunked! It prompted me to make some changes which is one of the reasons I’m limiting my IG time, posting less frequently and creating more blog content instead. So, I guess it wasn’t entirely “light” subject matter.

FAMOUS for a LIVING

A fun, light-hearted Rom-Com that got me thinking about my phone use!

WHAT I’M LOVING IN HOME DECOR:

  • Tan gingham is having a moment and I’m here for it! I’ve always love gingham and I dove deep into black and white buffalo check when it hit the scene. I still think that pattern is a classic in moderation. I have a chair and pillows in our basement guest room with black and white check. Timeless in my opinion, but I digress. The tan gingham is a bit more subtle and every bit a neutral as is it’s black and white counterpart. McGee and Co. recently shared this trend on their page, but if you want to jump on the bandwagon at a more manageable price point then I’ve got you covered!

BACK TO SCHOOL:

We are still very much in the throws of summer, but school is definitely something that we are planning for. We ordered our homeschool curriculum, and a few other neccessities, so we are prepared with time to spare. My daughter’s supply aesthetic game is strong this year. I mean, C’mon.

HOW ARE YOU CARING FOR YOUR MIND, BODY AND SOUL?

  • I’m still reading the Bible chronologically using the Bible Re-cap as a guide and additional commentary. My daughter is doing the same, although we are going at different paces. (She’s actually ahead of me!) I’m also reading the Create in me a Heart of Mercy study by my friend Dorina. Follow Dorina here!

  • I’ve had a bum knee, so my workouts have been on hold, but I am continuing with The Faster Way program. If you want to know more about it, feel free to email me. I’d love to share it with you. The program works when you “work it!”

  • I’m resting and in a season of quiet reflection. Any mama with kiddos leaving the nest will say it’s a very different time…for sure. I’m grateful for friends I can be vulnerable with and for Biblical counsel.

  • I’ve also put myself on the list as far as self-care goes. I have a monthly appointment for a derma plane facial and it has become my favorite 90 minutes of the month. In the in-between I have enjoyed this yummy, clean ingredient face mask by Eminence. It’s on the pricey side, but a little goes a long way! You can find me lounging in my Cozy Earth pink PJ’s whilst masking. I have the long sleeve, long pant set as well as the short sleeve, short pant set. I don’t every want to NOT wear these, and I change into them as soon as I know I’m home for the day! Raise your hand if you are a Jammie girl!
